New TD Aeroplan Credit Card Offers for Winter 2023

TD has just announced their Winter 2023 credit card offers, and two of the personal credit cards have improved their welcome bonuses to new all-time highs.
TD’s most popular Aeroplan cards continue to put on very attractive welcome bonuses coinciding with the post-pandemic travel rush, while their other products remain at all-time-highs as well.
Let’s take a closer look at the details of these offers, which are available until May 28, 2023.
TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege: 115,000 Aeroplan Points!
The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card is offering a welcome bonus at 115,000 Aeroplan points, the all-time high for the premium card – although the structure of the welcome bonus means you’ll need to keep the card for a second year.
To earn the full bonus, you’ll have to meet the following conditions:
- Earn 20,000 Aeroplan points with your first purchase
- Earn an additional 60,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $7,500 in the first 180 days
- Earn an anniversary bonus of 35,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $12,000 in the first year
While the spending requirement is high, it’s only an average of $1,250 per month in the first six months and $1,000 per month in the first 12 months, which is quite low compared to other premium credit card offers. Besides, the bonus is well worth it, enough for a round-trip business class flight from Western Canada to Japan.
This card has an annual fee of $599, and you’ll need to renew the card for a second year to capture the full welcome bonus. If you’d prefer to only keep the card for the first year, you’d come away with only 80,000 Aeroplan points, which still isn’t a bad deal.
As always, the card’s everyday earn rates are as follows:
- Earn 2 Aeroplan points per dollar spent at Air Canada, including Air Canada Vacations
- Earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on groceries, gas, travel, and dining
- Earn 1.25 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on other purchases
In addition to the travel benefits offered by the lower-tier cards, the Visa Infinite Privilege card also comes with a DragonPass membership and six lounge passes per year, as well as Maple Leaf Lounge access. Plus, your spending on the card will help earn Status Qualifying Miles or Segments towards Aeroplan Elite Status.
The Visa Infinite Privilege card requires $200,000 in annual household income to qualify.
- Earn 20,000 Aeroplan points upon first purchase
- Plus, earn an additional 30,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $3,000 monthly in the first 90 days
- Plus, earn an additional 55,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $12,000 in the first year
- Earn 2x Aeroplan points on Air Canada purchases
- Earn 1.5x Aeroplan points on gas, groceries, dining, food delivery, and other travel purchases
- Aeroplan preferred pricing, free checked bag, priority check-in and boarding on Air Canada flights
- Unlimited Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge access
- DragonPass membership with six free lounge visits per year
- Minimum income: $200,000 personal or household
- Annual fee: $599
TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite: 55,000 Aeroplan Points
The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card has extended its welcome bonus of 55,000 Aeroplan points. As usual, the annual fee is waived for the first year.
To earn the full bonus, you’ll have to meet the following conditions:
- Earn 10,000 Aeroplan points with your first purchase
- Earn an additional 30,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $5,000 in the first 180 days
- Earn an anniversary bonus of 15,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $7,500 in the first year
A bonus of 55,000 Aeroplan points is an all-time high for the card, on paper, even matching the effective welcome bonus back when the Buddy Pass conversion opportunity was active in 2021.
Like the premium card, the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite requires you to keep the card for a second year to earn the full welcome bonus. Otherwise, the first-year bonus drops to 40,000 Aeroplan points and First Year Free.
However, the anniversary bonus of 15,000 points would definitely justify paying a $139 annual fee for the second year – and that’s not factoring in a potential annual fee waiver by holding a TD premium chequing account.
As a reminder, here are the Visa Infinite card’s earn rates on ongoing spending:
- Earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on groceries, on gas, and at Air Canada
- Earn 1 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on other purchases
And these are a few key benefits for cardholders:
- Preferred pricing for Aeroplan award tickets on Air Canada flights
- Free checked bag for you and your party on Air Canada flights
- NEXUS rebate once every four years
The Visa Infinite card requires either $60,000 in annual personal income, or $100,000 in annual household income, to qualify.
- Earn 10,000 Aeroplan points upon first purchase.
- Plus, earn
10,00020,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $1,500 in the first three months - Plus, earn an additional 20,000 Aeroplan points on renewal when you spend $7,500 within 12 months of account opening
- Earn 1.5x Aeroplan points on gas, groceries, and Air Canada purchases
- Preferred Aeroplan pricing and free checked bags on Air Canada flights
- Minimum income: $60,000 personal or $100,000 household
- Annual fee: $0 for the first year, then $139
TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum: 20,000 Aeroplan Points
The TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card is also holding steady at 20,000 Aeroplan points for new cardholders. Like its Visa Infinite counterpart, this card is free for the first year.
The welcome bonus is as follows:
- Earn 10,000 Aeroplan points with your first purchase
- Earn an additional 10,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days
Usually, welcome offers at this level are reserved for cards with a higher income requirement. If this card is a better fit for you, or if you’ve been ignoring it in favour of premium products, you can get this bonus if you apply before May 28, 2023.
While the welcome bonus shines, ongoing earn rates aren’t quite as strong as the Visa Infinite:
- Earn 1 Aeroplan point per dollar spent on groceries, on gas, and at Air Canada
- Earn 1 Aeroplan point per $1.50 spent on other purchases
The Visa Platinum card also provides preferred pricing and Aeroplan award ticket insurance, but it doesn’t offer free checked bags or a NEXUS rebate.
- Earn
10,00020,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $1,000 in the first three months - Earn 1x Aeroplan points on gas, groceries, and Air Canada purchases
- Preferred Aeroplan pricing
- Annual fee: $0 for the first year, then $89
TD Aeroplan Visa Business: 60,000 Aeroplan Points
Turning our attention to business credit cards, the TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card has extended its offer of 60,000 Aeroplan points, broken down as follows:
- Earn 10,000 Aeroplan points with your first purchase
- Earn an additional 20,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $5,000 in the first 90 days
- Earn an additional 2,500 Aeroplan points for each of the first 12 months that you spend $5,000, up to a maximum of 30,000 Aeroplan points.
A higher spending requirement is to be expected for a business credit card, and this offer is no exception. It’s nice to see the first year annual fee waiver has remained as well.
However, the latter half of the offer is distributed at monthly intervals with a large recurring spending requirement. Each month, you’ll earn 2,500 bonus Aeroplan points for spending $5,000. That effectively works out to a bonus 0.5 points per dollar spent.
In total, you can earn up to 30,000 bonus Aeroplan points for spending $60,000. That’s a very steep requirement that will divert your attention away from other more lucrative cards.
Similar to the American Express Business Edge Card, the TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card comes with a good signup bonus up front, but with a disproportionately-weak monthly component that would only be worth pursuing if your business can easily spend that much on a regular basis.
If you can maximize the card’s perks (similar to the Visa Infinite above) and everyday earn rates on non-Amex business expenses, this card might still be a good choice:
- Earn 2 Aeroplan points per dollar spent at Air Canada
- Earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent on shipping, internet, cable, phone, dining, and travel
- Earn 1 Aeroplan point per dollar spent on other purchases
It’s relatively easy to get approved for business credit cards with TD as a sole proprietor. If you’re interested, I’d suggest setting up an appointment with a representative at a branch to ensure smooth sailing.
- Earn 10,000 Aeroplan points upon first purchase
- Plus, earn 20,000 Aeroplan points upon spending $5,000 in the first three months
- Plus, earn up to 30,000 Aeroplan points after spending $5,000 each month for the first 12 months
- Earn 1.5x Aeroplan points on travel, dining, shipping, and telecommunications purchases
- Preferred pricing and free checked bags on Air Canada flights
- Qualify for the card with a registered business
- Annual fee: $0 for the first year, then $149
Conclusion
TD remains one of Canada’s leading credit card issuers, with strong new offers on their Aeroplan credit cards for Winter 2023.
You can earn a substantial number of Aeroplan points through each of TD’s co-branded cards. Although the personal core and premium cards are offering all-time-high levels of welcome bonuses, keep in mind that the anniversary bonus structure requires you to keep the card into a second year.
Still, if you’ve been sleeping on TD, now would be a stellar time to ramp up and apply for these TD Aeroplan credit cards to take advantage of some excellent bonuses through May 28, 2023.
