Air France/KLM Flying Blue: Promo Rewards for September 2022
The Air France/KLM Flying Blue loyalty program is well-known for its monthly rotating series of Promo Rewards, which offer 25–50% discounts on short-haul and long-haul redemptions on Air France and KLM flights.
The program has just released its Promo Rewards for September 2022, and there are some great offers to destinations across the United States, including in business class. Let’s take a look at what opportunities are available this month.
What Are Flying Blue Promo Rewards?
Promo Rewards are a major perk to being a member of Air France/KLM Flying Blue. Promo Rewards are released on a monthly basis and offer 25–50% off in select markets on Air France & KLM flights in various classes of service.
This month’s long-haul Promo Rewards include:
- 25% discount on Air France economy and business class awards between Europe and Los Angeles
- 25% discount on Air France economy and business class awards between Europe and Seattle
- 25% discount on KLM economy and business class awards between Europe and Chicago
- 25% discount on KLM business class awards between Europe and Austin
- 25% discount on KLM economy class awards between Europe and New York
This month, there are five long-haul Promo Rewards, and they’re to destinations all across the United States. The discount also applies to business class reward bookings for four locations, which is something we haven’t seen on Promo Rewards for the last few months.
For example, you can score flights from Seattle to Munich via Paris in Air France business class for 52,875 miles.
Or, you can fly from Amsterdam to Chicago with KLM in business class for 56,500 Flying Blue miles.
You could even snag flights from Los Angeles to Rome with Air France for only 51,000 miles in business class.
Furthermore, there are 10 other Promo Rewards for short- and medium-haul travel within Europe.
It’s fantastic to see so many Promo Rewards to destinations across the United States. Now that the busy summer travel season is coming to a close, there are plenty of opportunities to score deals on long-haul flights with Air France and KLM to or from Europe, including in business class.
Promo Reward tickets are available for one-way and round-trip flights, allowing for flexibility in your travel plans. Promo Reward discounts are only applicable on the lowest standard award pricing when available, and not on dynamically priced flight segments.
Keep in mind that Flying Blue Promo Rewards come with a booking deadline. You must book the September 2022 Promo Rewards during the month of September; however, the travel window extends all the way through February 28, 2023. This is a more favourable timeline compared to shorter booking windows on Promo Rewards in the past.
It’s important to note that Promo Reward tickets typically cannot be changed, cancelled, or refunded. Air France/KLM Flying Blue previously had a generous COVID-19 change/cancellation policy, but it appears that it is no longer being offered.
How to Earn Flying Blue Miles
You can earn Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles by booking flight tickets on Air France, KLM, and its SkyTeam partners.
Additionally, in Canada, you can transfer Amex MR points at a 1:0.75 ratio, which can be earned via the entire suite of American Express Membership Rewards credit cards.
There’s also an Air France/KLM co-branded credit card issued by Brim Financial that will be launching in the future.

If you have access to US credit cards, you can also transfer Amex US MR points, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Capital One points to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio to pool your Canadian- and US-sourced Flying Blue miles in the same account.
Until the end of September, there is a 25% transfer bonus from Amex US MR points to Air France/KLM Flying Blue. If you have a redemption with Air France/KLM Flying Blue in mind, now would be a great time to transfer Amex US MR points for a bonus.
Lastly, when you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to Flying Blue, you’ll get a bonus of 5,000 miles on top of the usual 3:1 ratio, for a total of 25,000 Flying Blue miles.
Overall, Flying Blue is a program that is rapidly growing in prominence for Canadian points collectors, especially with their regular Promo Rewards and their upcoming credit card partnership with Brim.
