Air France/KLM Flying Blue: Promo Rewards for July 2022

The Air France/KLM Flying Blue loyalty program is well-known for its monthly rotating series of Promo Rewards, which offer 25–50% discounts on short-haul and long-haul redemptions on Air France and KLM flights.
The program has just released its Promo Rewards for July 2022. Let’s take a look at what opportunities are on offer.
What Are Flying Blue Promo Rewards?
Promo Rewards are a major perk to being a member of Air France/KLM Flying Blue. Promo Rewards are released on a monthly basis and offer 25–50% off in select markets on Air France & KLM flights in various classes of service.
This month’s long-haul Promo Rewards include:
- 25% discount on Air France economy class awards between Europe and Boston
- 25% discount on Air France economy class awards between Europe and Atlanta
This month, there are only two Promo Rewards for long-haul flights available. Given the demand for air travel, it’s not surprising that Flying Blue doesn’t have a number of routes on offer.
Promo Reward tickets are available for one-way and round-trip flights, allowing for flexibility in your travel plans. Promo Reward discounts are only applicable on the lowest standard award pricing when available, and not on dynamically priced flight segments.
Keep in mind that Flying Blue Promo Rewards come with a booking deadline. You must book the July 2022 Promo Rewards during the month of July; however, the travel window extends all the way through December 31, 2022. This is a more favourable timeline compared to shorter booking windows on Promo Rewards in the past.
It’s important to note that Promo Reward tickets typically cannot be changed, cancelled, or refunded. Air France/KLM Flying Blue previously had a generous COVID-19 change/cancellation policy, but it appears that it is no longer being offered.
Secret Promo Rewards in Business Class!
Over the past few months, I’ve sometimes observed that Air France/KLM Flying Blue would apply a Promo Rewards-like discount to select business class markets. even though there was no such offer explicitly published.
That appears to be what we’re seeing this month too, although the availability of these “secret” business class Promo Rewards appears to be more limited than previous months.
For example, you could book Boston–Paris for 47,625 miles, a 32% discount from the usual rate of 70,000 miles.
Similarly, there is some business class award space available from Atlanta to Paris for 49,875 miles, a 29% discount from the standard 70,000 miles required.
The taxes and fees are a bit higher in business class, but the overall price point still offers great value compared to paid business class fares.
While previous “secret” Flying Blue Promo Rewards have lasted throughout the month, there’s no telling how long these deals will last, so I’d recommend snagging the surprise discounted rates as soon as you can if you’re interested.
How to Earn Flying Blue Miles
You can earn Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles by booking flight tickets on Air France, KLM, and its SkyTeam partners.
Additionally, in Canada, you can transfer Amex MR points at a 1:0.75 ratio, which can be earned via the entire suite of American Express Membership Rewards credit cards.

If you have access to US credit cards, you can also transfer Amex US MR points, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Capital One points to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio to pool your Canadian- and US-sourced Flying Blue miles in the same account.
Lastly, when you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to Flying Blue, you’ll get a bonus of 5,000 miles on top of the usual 3:1 ratio, for a total of 25,000 Flying Blue miles.
Overall, Flying Blue is a program that is rapidly growing in prominence for Canadian points collectors, especially with their regular Promo Rewards and their propensity for the occasional secret discounted rate or two.
